Down Syndrome QLD CEO Announces Patron Appointment

It is with great excitement that Down Syndrome Queensland CEO Darryl Steff would like to announce that His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, Governor of Queensland has agreed to become a Patron of Down Syndrome Queensland (DSQ). 

His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC is the 26th Governor of Queensland and representative of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queensland’s Head of State. In recognition of his contribution to the Australian community, the Governor was appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia in 2000, and awarded a Centenary Medal in 2003.  He holds honorary doctorates from The University of Queensland (2000) and the University of Southern Queensland (2008), and Griffith University (2014). His Excellency was sworn in as the 26th Governor of Queensland on 29 July 2014.

DSQ CEO Darryl Steff said, “We welcome His Excellency into our organisation and look forward to working with him to promote the great work of Down Syndrome Queensland.”

His Excellency will be one of two patrons recently welcomed to the DSQ organisation where they will help to provide support and advocacy for DSQ. 

DSQ’s mission is to build community awareness and to support, advocate for and empower people with Down syndrome in order for them to take their rightful place as valuable and contributing members of their local and global community.
